In November 2013, Smith England was founded by Nigel Smith and Julie Smith, nee England.

Nigel Smith, Managing Director and Chartered Insurance Broker

Nigel has worked in the insurance industry for both insurers and brokers since 1976. In 1989, he qualified as an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute, before joining J K Lee Ltd insurance brokers in 1990. Within a couple of years, he was appointed as a director, and helped establish the company’s reputation for professionalism, staff training, competence, technical expertise, risk analysis and designing reliable corporate insurance portfolios. In 2001, he became a Chartered Insurance Broker.

In 2008, J K Lee Ltd was sold to COBRA Holdings PLC. From then, Nigel held director-level positions at J K Lee Ltd’s successor companies, until establishing Smith England in November 2013.

Julie Smith, Legal Officer

Before founding Smith England in November 2013, and taking on the role of Legal Officer, Julie was a lawyer, heading up a team of 6 other lawyers plus support staff, all specialising in industrial diseases and accidents.

Julie’s legal knowledge and experience of the UK court system is invaluable, particularly when we are defending our clients against litigation from third parties and employees.
